Victoria, BC, Canada, July. 24, 2012 — 3DA Systems Inc., a leading 3D PDF software development company, is proud to announce that it has become a founding member of the 3D PDF Consortium. The 3D PDF Consortium is a world-wide member organization that promotes the adoption of solutions employing the 3D capabilities of the PDF standard (ISO32000). The 3D elements of PDF are revolutionizing the way organizations collaborate and communicate by combining 3D information with other forms of information, such as 2D, audio, video, text, and metadata into rich documents that can leverage the capabilities of the PDF platform such as forms, templates, scripts, security, and digital signatures. These documents can then be consumed by any approved recipient who has the Acrobat Reader installed on their device..

“We recognized that there was an urgent need for Revit users to join the broader movement of 3D data sharing through 3D PDF,” says Michael Schell, President of 3DA Systems.

3DA Systems currently focuses on integrating the 3D PDF into architectural software with its 3D PDF Converter for Revit®. The idea of communication and cooperation between firms is simplified with the implementation of universal file(s) that can be shared and drafted instantly. This allows for more options and diminutive error, as well as lower costs due to the time saved by having a secure means of data exchange. As one of the founding members of the consortium, 3DA Systems Inc. joins a community dedicated towards utilizing the 3D PDF and PRC formats.

“As the first company to join the Consortium who focuses on the architecture, engineering, construction, and building information management market, we are delighted to welcome 3DA Systems to the Consortium”, says David Opsahl, executive director. “We look forward to working with 3DA Systems and their customers to represent the needs of their industry as we continue to help evolve the 3D PDF standard in the coming years”.
